The United States Senate has voted on Coal-to-Liquid amendments. These are amendments to the Senate version of the Clean Energy Act of 2007. The purpose of the amendments is to help reduce America's dependency on foreign oil imports.
By investing in clean, renewable, and alternative energy resources, the United States is also helping spur on the promotion of new emerging energy technologies, and help in developing greater energy efficiency. The Strategic Energy Efficiency and Renewables Reserve was also created to invest in alternative energy.
Unfortunately, both amendments failed to pass the Senate vote.
