Media: E-Publishing & The Law - What You Should Know
The Canadian Journalism Foundation is hosting an event that should be of interest to everyone who publishes material on the Internet.
The not-for-profit CJF presentation will feature a discussion with Dr. Michael Geist. Dr. Geist will be presenting the pertinent legal issues that are impacting everyone from the seasoned blogger to the average internet user. Afterwards Dr. Michael Geist will be partaking in a Q&A moderated by Sally Armstrong.
According to Dr. Geist, anyone who blogs, comments, sends e-mail or otherwise publishes electronically is subject to the laws of defamation and libel. The Ottawa Law School professor will also discuss the Internet and new technologies while identifying the business and policy challenges that this creates for journalists and journalism.
If this discussion interests you, you can attend for free with advance registration. The presentation will take place on Thursday, March 6, 2008 starting at 1800 hours at the MaRS Discovery District, CR-3 101 College St, which is located at the SE corner of College & University.
